Icy summer

Local media outlets have devoured Absolut Icebar's hype like hungry
lumberjacks in a lutefisk-eating contest.

?

So, as you probably already know, this is Asia's largest Icebar, and yes,
the ice has been imported from Sweden's Torne River (take that, Al
Gore!). Well, after studying up, queuing up and suiting up, we were eager
to sip a few cocktails and gaze upon the promised panorama of icy art and
high design. Surprisingly, the bar's planners opted against background
music, perhaps worried that it would encourage us to linger over our
drinks.

?

This, though, was unlikely; the Absolut Chocolate Blizzard (RMB 100 cover
charge includes one drink) reminded us of cough syrup and the Absolut
Icebar Shanghai tasted like a sickly-sweet serving of watermelon juice.
We left in less than the allotted 45 minutes, headed for warmer lands and
less gimmicky watering holes.
